The Watt mechanism for VAZ 2101 - 2107 cars is a design that is designed to replace the standard rear suspension scheme of VAZ 2101- 2107 cars with Panar traction.
The mechanism consists of two horizontal beams of the same length attached to each side of the chassis. A short vertical link is attached between these two beams.
The Watt mechanism can be considered as two Panar rods mounted opposite each other. In the Watt design, however, the curvature of motion inherent in the Panar thrust is compensated by turning a short vertical link.
The mechanism ensures the movement of the rear axle, which is more close to a straight line than the pull of the Panar. Practically eliminates the transverse displacement of the bridge relative to the car body. This has a positive effect on the handling of the car, improving the stability of its behavior in turns and when driving over bumps. Reduces the transverse load on the rear suspension silent blocks. The pendulum of the mechanism is assembled on a double-row closed-type ball bearing, and VAZ 2108 silent blocks are used in jet thrusters. The shoulders of the mechanism are made adjustable in length.
Attention! The installation of the Watt mechanism is performed by welding.
